Weekly Challenge #52 - Tuesday

Challenge: Anything Goes Using Something New

December 31st - January 6th, 2014

Last week was "Something Old" and, since this week holds the promise of the new year, we're doing "Something New".  I'm excited because I am in love with cupcakes, but haven't used one of my Paper Smooches cupcake stamps yet.  How did that happen?

This card includes a paper-pieced cupcake from the Sugar Rush stamp set.  (I've used this set quite a bit -- especially the ice cream cone -- but never this adorable cupcake!)  I double-mounted it with scalloped circles cut from various Bazzill Basics Smoothies pinks.  I cut out a banner from one of those pinks and embossed Happy Birthday with clear EP.  The sentiment is from the Digits stamp set, and the patterned papers are from Doodlebug.

So how about it?  Please join us in celebrating the NEW YEAR by using something new to you!  It's a fun challenge -- use a new stamp, new paper, new tool, new technique -- and share it with us!

Challenge: Anything Goes Using Leftovers

December 24th - 30th, 2013

Hi, this is Cheryl. I am hoping everyone had a blessed Christmas. I could not have asked for a better Holiday. We had a wonderful day with our girls and lot's of yummy food to eat. Santa was good to us all too.

For today's project we were instructed to use any of our leftovers from previous projects. I chose to use my well loved Paper Smooches Winter Groves stamp set and some random papers from my leftover stash. This was a great way to get more miles out of our papers and embellishments. I tried to think ahead and use what I had for a Valentine Card. I hope you enjoy my card!

Thank you for visiting the Cuttin' and Stampin" blog. If you wish to purchase the stamp or papers used, please visit their Facebook online store at Cuttin' and Stapmpin' Scrappy Supply Store  We would also love for you to like their group on Facebook here.

Happy Scrappin...........Cheryl

Challenge #51 - Use your Left Overs - Saturday

#51
Challenge: Anything goes using your Left Overs

December 24th - 30th, 2013

Hello Everyone.  Tammy here with a lot going on this week at Cuttin' and Stampin'.  We are working on adding more types of projects to bring to you.   As many of you know I tore apart my craftroom and decided it was time to finish it properly.  So I've been crafting in the kitchen.  Who needs to eat right?

We want to start giving you some step by step instructions on how we create our projects.  Today I'm working with Craffiti Direct and showcasing the Music stamp set.

Here's what I started with.  Bazzill Basic Paper in Avicado.  The pattern paper is from the Bazzill Countdown to Christmas.  The Craffiti Direct Music stamp set.  Versamark Clear ink and Black embossing powder.  I used  my 1" circle punch, Stampin' Up label punch and and oval die cut.  Close to My Heart Liquid glass and Memento Ivy Garden ink.

I cut the card base at 4 1/4 x 11 and folded it in half.  I cut the printed paper to 4 x 5 1/4.  I brushed the cream card stock with my powder bag.  Then I stamped the cream paper with the Versamark ink and used the black embossing powder for the piano keyboard and main label.

I tried stamping the three words in cream ink. Then in versamark ink and used white embossing powder.  In the end, I liked the black embossing powder on the green paper.

I punched the smaller words out with the circle punch and the happiness with an oval metal die. I used the Memento Garden Ivy to go around all the edges of the elements. I then took some black baker's twin and and strung them together to look like they are dangling from the label like charms.  Then tied a bow on the top.  After it was all glued together, I covered the green "charms" with some Liquid Glass so they would be nice and shinny.

Here's the final card.

Tell me what you think of the tutorial and way I can make them better to help you the reader.

Challenge #51 - Friday - Using Left Overs

Challenge: Anything goes using your Left Overs

December 24th - 30th, 2013

Hi everyone, Doris here today with my last project for 2013.
I am a big scrap saver, especially of paper that I really like, and I must
really like paper because I have 4 drawers filled with left
over scraps from some of my favorite papers.
I pulled some out today for a simple and quick birthday card.

Who can't smile at a butterfly in the winter?  I used a small Hero Arts die to cut  all the butterflies which were sitting on some pop dots, and added a sentiment from a Paper Smooches stamp set called Sentimental Sampler.

Ok, your turn to show us how you use some of your left over papers!

Using Left Overs - Thursday.

#51
Challenge: Anything goes using your Left Overs

December 24th - 30th, 2013

All of our design team projects are using the Left Overs or scrap bins in our craftrooms.  We all have that pile of paper we just can't through away, because we can use it again later for a square of this or that.

So my left overs were used to create a couple of last minute Christmas cards.  I'm sure we all have those people that stop by with a gift and leave you standing there with nothing to give back in return.  We always have a couple packages of chocolates wrapped and under the tree, just in case.  But I created a couple of extra cards to place on the packages to make them look, not so forgotten".

Quite a few years back I was in a craft fair and I built a lot of Christmas cards for sale.  In the process of building, I purchased a 500 count package of red cardstock thinking I would use the majority of it.  Man was I wrong.  I've been using the same red card stock for 4 years and I still have a ton of it.  I also have a good amount of Kraft cardstock.  I use it for mini albums and there's always pieces left over laying around.

So I took some inspiration from Kristina Werner and her Christmas Card Series. and this is what I created.

I embossed the kraft cardstock and then rubbed a Unicorn White ink pad over the top.  I used the Paper Smooches Joyful Greetings for the sentiment and some hemp for the bow.  I used my Uni-ball Signo white gel pen to draw the dash lines around the greeting.    I will admit that I needed to do a little more prep work on the red card stock to reduce the static.  I thought I had it rubbed down pretty well, but there was a lot of what embossing flakes hanging on.

So let's see what you can create by using what's leftover in your scrap box.

Weekly Challenge #51 - Tuesday

Challenge: Anything goes using your Leftovers
December 24th - 30th, 2013

'Tis the season of leftovers, am I right?  Leftover stuffing, leftover turkey, leftover everything, it seems!  This year, I made my very first post-Thanksgiving turkey casserole.  I'm pretty excited by how it turned out.  I used two different recipes and used what I liked from each one.  We had some of the fresh sage & thyme leftover from making the gravy also, so I was able to add those to the casserole, too.

In addition to saving food leftovers, I save a lot of crafty leftovers.  Even things that started out as food containers or junk mail are crafty leftovers for me.  I've used chipboard from cereal boxes, plastic from product lids, etc.  I've got a project to show you made from recent paper leftovers.

The three adorable patterns I used were actually Christmas paper from the Bazzill Basics "Nordic Pines" collection, and the two solids are from Bazzill Basics, too.  I think I might keep working on this card and add some leftover ribbon and leftover buttons, too.

So here's your challenge: create something made from leftovers.   Anything goes, so it could be leftover fabric, leftover paper, leftover embellishments... whatever you find.

December 17th - 23th, 2013

The Design Team is sharing Christmas Tags with you this week.
Sure hope we inspire you with your own creations.
Make sure you turn around and share with us!

Hi everyone, Doris here today from Mom's Been Scrappin with some quick and easy Christmas Tags made from the Paper Smooches Christmas Sampler stamp set. These were all made from pieces of cardstock and ribbon from my scrap bins and took no time at all; they're all attached to some gifts under the tree. I planned to make just one tag, but this stamp set was such fun I
just kept going and made more!

This little guy is my favorite and I spent just a little more time on him.
I used some glittery embossing powder to add some snowflake behind the snowman, which is a Sizzix die.

Now it's your turn to show us some tags. Please make sure your creation
post has a link back to Cuttin' and Stampin'.
