Family Friday: Orange Team 14-8

February 25 - March 3, 2014
Weekly Challenge - All Boy

This week is all about the boys. Projects and cards specific to boys can be loads of fun, and this week our Orange Design Team has made projects that are "All Boy" using the Paper Smooches Super stamp set along with cardstock from the Bazzill The Adventures Of line that can be found in the Cuttin' and Stampin Scrappy Supply store HERE

For my project this week I wanted to focus on a man, rather than a boy.... but I thought this "Adventure" paper by Bazzil was perfect for the layout that I wanted to do! I did a "Super Dad" 6x6 project life layout for my son's album, and I think it turned out adorable! If you haven't used 6x6 pockets in your project life... it is a fun and easy way to mix things up! Here are some pictures from my project!

This is how it looks all together

And here are the individual 6x6 sections

I hope this has inspired you to get creative and have fun with some "boy" projects this week!

Pocket Thursday: Orange Team 14-8

February 25 - March 3, 2014
Weekly Challenge - All Boy

Hi everyone, Michelle from Happy Scrappin' here.  This week is all about the boys. Projects and cards specific to boys can be loads of fun, and this week our Orange Design Team has made projects that are "All Boy".

For my project, I used the Bazzill The Adventures Of line that can be found in the Cuttin' and Stampin Scrappy Supply store HERE.

I made this 4x6 title card this week using the Journal Cards, Mini Prints Paper and Stickers. I also used some Cecily Thickers from the store. I took one of the 4x6 Journal Cards to start then I added the boarder sticker and cut it to fit around the "Captain Adventure". Then I cut 3 ribbon banners added them to the top, put the stickers for the title on top of that. Then I took my photo and put a Navy boarder around it and some small scraps from the patterned paper behind the photo to give it more interest and texture.

When my son was little he use to get in our pantry/storage closet and get the cereal and help himself.

Mixed Media Day Feb. 22

Michele from Stuff by Belle here today and this week we are saying 'Hello SPRING!'  I am not sure where in the world you are but here in the Midwest we have had enough of winter, so I for one am wishing for spring.
We are using Pebbles Front Porch collection  and Paper Smooches Green Thumb, both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store.

I am sharing a card I made to send to a friend of mine I haven't heard from in a while...we will have some catching up to do.

I used Distress paint in Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar with an UmWow Studio mask, on UWS chipboard, splattered on my flowers and to watercolor paint the fussy cut rain boot.  I cut my flowers with Tim Holtz tattered floral dies, scattered some Doodlebug sprinkles, tied some May Arts burlap twine and VIOLA!  Hello SPRING!

The flower centers are a Fancy Pants resin rose and Perfect Pearls.

To me butterflies = spring, how about you??
Make sure you head over to the challenge blog and link up to this weeks challenge for a chance to win some fabulous scrappy goodness!!
Thanks for visiting and until next time...get inky often!

Family Post: Week 14-7

February 17-23, 2014

Weekly Challenge: Spring is Here! (Oh don't we wish)

The team is celebrating the impending arrival of spring this week. We have created all sorts of wonderful projects for you using Maggie Holmes "Front Porch" paper collection (check it out here) and the Paper Smooches set "Green Thumb". Your challenge is to create something that to you represents spring.

The Green team has used both of these wonderful items to showcase their interpretation of what Spring means to them!

Hello Everyone, what do you do with 10 twelve year olds, 2 hours, $20 and whatever you can scrounge out of the community craft closet?  Oh and see if you can work in a Personal Progress discussion. By the way, It's Sunday afternoon and we will be doing this Wednesday night.  Yeah, just let me wave my magic craft dust around and see what I can create.

Did I have mentioned that I've become a YouTube junkie?  Well, Monday night I was watching and there was this great tutorial by artsongandsoul.  WOW!! Light bulb moment,  this would be PERFECT for Wednesday night.  What could be more inexpensive, easy to do and I can adapt to the program.  And of course I still needed to create my family project for the blog.

So I started with a box of cards and envelopes.  The original instructions called for 6 envelopes.  For the progress chart I was thinking about I needed eight.  I had more than enough spare boxes in the craft cave, I'm sure I won't miss them.

We took eight envelops and open them up alternating them with the flaps down the center.  I took my poking tool and made five holes though all the envelopes.  I took some hemp and used it to string the envelopes together.

After they were all secure I folded them close and trimmed just the edge off the envelopes.  This will create the pockets for the cards to slide into.

I decorated the front, back and all the inner pages.  I used and Instagram frame on the one side.  I think it's important to have a picture of themselves when they start this journey. On the other side I wrote a favorite quote on.  I didn't want to use a bunch of thick embellishments because I wanted it to lay down somewhat flat.

There are eight virtues that the church teaches to the young women.  I used a package of 4x6 cards and cut them down to fit on the front of each of the cards that will fit into the pockets.  I also punched a label and then folded it in half to create a tab.   In the inside there's a place to put the tracking sheet and journaling.

On the inside I used a printed progress chart and a place for a special quote.

Here's a picture of the final product.  I created this in just over two hours and one trip to the church book store for the teaching aids.   Because I was using this paper collection to create my example with, I wasn't able to really match the color tabs with the color of the virtue card.  I was able to do that for the girls class.

I didn't use the stamp set on this project.  It just didn't seem to fit in and it was going to be too muh of a mess to clean up when the girls were done.

Green Team Week #14-7 Step By Step - Welcome Spring!

The Challenge this week is to Welcome Spring and what better way than to get your hands dirty and get outside in the garden!  I've created 4 cards to be included in a silent auction gardening basket at a local school's Spring Fling.  The paper and embellishment collection I'm using is called Front Porch and brought to you by Pebbles.  The stamps are from Paper Smooches and called Green Thumb.  All of these fabulous products can be found at Cuttin' and Stampin' Scrappy Supplies.

I did a quick search on Pinterest for a measurement chart and found this one at Poetic Artistry.

The example uses one sheet of double sided paper, however, this paper is single sided so I'm using two sheets to get the same effect.  The sketch showing how to use the pieces for each card is also attached.

Now to get cutting!  I did not follow the order on the cutting template.  I went on my own and labeled each piece to be sure I had them all!

Then I started layering and embellishing!

Remember to check out Cuttin' and Stampin' Scrappy Supplies for all these great items!  Also don't forget to enter this weeks challenge to Welcome Spring!
