Weekly Challenge #30 - Wednesday

#30
Challenge:   Clean and Simple Cards
July 30 - August 5, 2013

Hello Everyone, Tammy here from Life - Up, Down and Sideways

This week's challenge is to create a Clean and Simple card.  Talk about a challenge.  I know my style is pretty simple, but when it's stated in the challenge I seem to really struggle.

I took an idea from Catherine Pooler at Stamp Nation and created the following.

I used the Stampin Up blossom punch and lace.  I used the Carta Bella Giddy Up paper to create the stripes in the back ground.

Weekly Challenge #30 - Tuesday

#30
Challenge:  Clean and Simple Cards
July 30 - August 5, 2013

It's Tuesday, and time for another great challenge!  This time, the theme is "Clean and Simple Cards".  I think that the Clean & Simple idea can be summed up this way:  Less Is More.  It features color and design, and does away with most layers and embellishments.

For my card, I chose images and the sentiment from the adorable Surf and Turf set from Paper Smooches.  I stamped the images with the Copic-friendly Memento inks from Tsukineko and then colored in the fish with Copics.  Then I mounted the white cardstock panel onto a coordinating turquoise card.

Yes, the explanation of the card sounds simple.  Believe me, there was a lot of hemming and hawing over colors and placement.  Then some "should I add ______?" conundrums.  In the end, it didn't need glitter or buttons or patterned paper.  The fish and the sentiment can stand alone.

So let's see your Clean and Simple cards!   Don't be afraid to let the white space show!

Challenge: Scrap your Vacation
July 23 - 29

Hello blogland, Doris here today.  Summer and vacation season are well under way so what a great time for this week's challenge at Cuttin' and Stampin' -
Scrap your Vacation. One of my favorite vacations was a few years ago when two of my daughters and I went to Ireland. We took hundreds of pictures during our time there and it was so much fun looking thru them again when I took out that scrapbook. I've picked out a two page layout to share with you today to get you inspired.

My layout style is very much like my card making style, clean and simple, because I wanted the pictures to tell the story. Take a peek:

These pictures were taken at Ballintuber Abbey in County Mayo and was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. After spending some time there,
we had lunch at a small inn across the street and it seemed
that everyone was drawn back to the Abbey before we left.

Challenge:   Scrap your Vacation
July 23 - 29

Hello Everyone.  Tammy here from Life - Up, Down and Sideways. This weeks challenge at Cuttin' and Stampin' is perfect for me.  We just returned from a 9 day motorcycle trip.  We covered a lot of ground leaving Utah, passing through Wyoming, spent three days in South Dakota.  Dropped down through Nebraska in to Colorado and then back home.

Our first day we covered 598 miles and stopped in Gillette, Wyoming for the night.  On the way to the Hotel we passed this sculpture and I just had to go back for a picture.

Knowing I needed to prepare this post, I ran to Wal-mart to print off our pictures and the photo center was closed.  So in a panic I decided to give My Memories digital scrapbooking a try.  I have to say it was pretty easy once I got a feel for it.  There's so much more it can do, this was a  real basic thing.

I sized the page so that I can print it and it will fit into the 6" x 8" Snap Binders I purchased.

Challenge:   Scrap your Vacation
July 23 - 29

Hello Everyone!
Teresa K here from CreateEnjoyShare and happy to be with you today!

Today is my design team day with Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenges and our theme for this week is "Scrap Your Vacation".  I was lucky enough to have recently returned from a vacation with some extended family members to celebrate my niece's (who in our family is referred to as my "other daughter" and I am her "other mother") 30th birthday.  Yes, I know, I know...how could I ever have a niece turning 30??  I'm pretty sure she is lying about her age to make herself seem older than she is!!

Anyway- since I just had a fun beach vacation with some special family members- this challenge was perfect for me to get some photos scrapped!  (I am embarrassed to say how long it has been since I have done ANY scrapbooking!).  So let's call this layout "simple scrapping" !
Here's a look at my 2 page layout:

This is very simple Scrapping!  I used my Silhouette, my favorite cutting machine these days- to cut some cute files. Some of the files were from the Silhouette America store, others were cut files I've found on line.
Let's have a few close ups of some of the photos and die cuts:

I thought this was the perfect title for my layout!

This adorable sun and cloud was a freebie from Miss Kate's Cuttables!
Left page of the layout

I thought the beach umbrella was so cute!
Right side of layout
This is from the Silhouette Store - I used the Sketch pens for part of this
and then cut the words "Life" and "the" from paper!
LOVE using my Sketch Pens!
My sweet niece (or "other daughter") my "sister" Judy and I!
A couple of close ups of photos on the page.
Well, that wraps it up for todays post!
I hope that you will "Scrap Your Vacation" and link it up to our
Challenge Page!

Challenge Week #29-Tuesday

Challenge:   Scrap your Vacation
July 23 - 29

Teresa R. here from Fresh and Renewed. And we're going on vacation!!! This week is all about Scrap Your Vacation! Well, I thought it would be really cool to actually have my post about vacation while I am on vacation! I am currently in the state of North Carolina visiting with family. It has been over a year since I have seen my dad or my precious cousin that I love as a sister! So, anyway this layout is of the last time I was able to visit a little over a year ago when my cousin's baby girl got married. I so love being with my family. I felt sooooo blessed to have been able to go to this wedding.

This is just 1 of the dozen layouts I did of this wedding to go in my scrapbook. Please forgive my terrible photo taking skills...my good camera is on the fritz so I am having to deal with this little point and shoot for a while.

Challenge:  Christmas in July
July 16 - 22, 2013

Kim Ross from Card-E-ology with another fun Cuttin' and Stampin' challenge!  This week, it's "Christmas in July".  It's a perfect challenge for me, because it lets me leave these 100º+ days behind (at least in my mind) and focus on the crisp winter weather ahead.

My project features two sets from Paper Smooches:  Winter Groves (tree, gift, penguin) and Alphadots (letters & line of dots).  After stamping the foreground images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I drew a horizon line so the images weren't just floating in space.  The tree trunk and gift were colored with Copic markers and the patterned tree is paper pieced.  Cardstock is from Bazzill Basics.

I may go back and add some color to the penguin's feet and beak.  When I was stamping with my friends, we had the great penguin debate:  are the feet/beak colored, are they yellow, are they orange, are they black?   It turns out that it depends on the species!  The Macaroni penguin even has pink feet!

So are you ready to start feeling some Christmas spirit?  It's never too early to start making your Christmas cards, you know, because the holidays always seem to sneak up on us!

Please make sure your creation post has a link back to Cuttin' and Stampin'.

Projects are due on July 22nd.  We will be announcing the winners on July 26, 2013.

Challenge: Christmas in July
July 16 - 22, 2013

Hello My Crafty Friends!
Teresa here from CreateEnjoyShare!
Seems like it's been a while since I posted. I was lucky enough to get to take a short vacation with some extended family members and celebrate my niece's 30th birthday at the beach! It was a nice, relaxing time- lots of sun and nice hot weather!
How funny that my first Design Team post takes me to Christmas in July - the total opposite of what I was thinking of when I was at the beach!

I always think it would be an amazing idea to get started on my Christmas cards in July, but never seem to be in the mood to do it! This Team Challenge at least got me thinking about making them!
Let's take a look at what I've created for you today!

I created this happy little penguin from a cut from the Silhouette Store. I added googly eyes to
give her a bit more character!

I decided she should stay cool this summer by sitting on a mound
of snow that I just tore by hand and then glittered the edge. I attached that to my blue embossed snowflake layer - and added in one separate snowflake with a bit of glitter.

I stamped the word "joy" in red ink to make it stand out a bit more and to tie in with her little red bow!
I pop dotted the penguin to give her a bit more interest, and the snowflake is 3 D so it has dimension as well.
Here is one more look at my finished card!

Now it's time for you to dust off your Christmas stamps or die cuts and create a Christmas project!
We'd love to have you link it up and join in our challenge this week!

Challenge: Ice Cream
July 9 - 15, 2013

Hello blogland,  Doris here today.  If you ask me, any time is ice cream time, and this week at Cuttin' and Stampin' it's our challenge of the week. Take a peek at my project:

I've been in a red-white-blue mood after just celebrating July 4 and used some paper scraps from Bazzill and my Silhouette to cut my ice cream cone, then a sentiment from Paper Smooches Summer Groves stamp set. Stickles gave the embossed vanilla ice cream scoop some sparkle and I was done! You just can't go wrong with vanilla ice cream :)

Come show us your ice cream projects at Cuttin' and Stampin' this week.
