Family Sunday 1-19-2014

January 19, 2014

It's the beginning of a new year and that means time for a new calendars for the smith household.  My husband works shift work and the rest of our world revolves around his schedule.  To keep track of when he works and when he don't I have calendars everywhere marked with his days on and off.

The first and most important calendar that's marked is in my planner.  This year I purchased the Becky Higgins Project Life planner. I liked how the weekly pages are laid out and start with Monday.  The pages are so think that I can write on them with most any type of pen and it won't bleed through.   The problem I have with the planner is that there aren't any month pages or an annual calendar.  I went back and purchased the Journal pages for the planer and decided to create a few calendar pages of my own.

I printed off a full year calendar that starts with Monday like the weekly pages and marked my husband schedule and highlighted the weekends so I could remember them.  Then I used some clear contact paper to cover the the pages.  I didn't want to laminate the page because then I wouldn't be able to write on the back of the page.

The second calendar has to be in the kitchen by the phone.  It's usually just a piece of paper hanging on the side of the refrigerator.  This year I wanted something more decorative.   So I picked up this Maya Road Clear Acrylic calendar.  I used the Bo Bunny Winter Woodland paper collection and one some pop up elements.

The base paper was Navy Chevron by A Muse Studio.  The scalloped piece is from the Bo Bunny Winter Wonderland Misc Me Journal book collection.  I cut the page in half.  Glued the bottom half here.   I used the Paper Smooches Documented remember word die sent through the paper backed with one thickness of foam tape.  I used a Hero Arts stamp for the check boxes and lines.  The calendar outline was a Jaded Blossom stamp.

The base paper on this page was Navy Blue polka-dot paper from A Muse  with the second half of the scalloped paper glued on top.  Then I used one of the matching 3D elements on the bottom of the page.  I used some UmWow Studio pieces to create the second ticket.  I covered both the elements with paper and glued a Studio Calico snowflake onto the corner.  I used the Paper Smooches Chilly Chums for the sentiment stamp.

I used the rings to finish off the calendar.

There's eleven more months of calendars, but I will show them in other months.  I hope you enjoyed this project that revolves around family.  You still have until Monday Night January 20th to enter you own winter creation
