Shrooms and Blooms Blog Hop

Welcome to the Shrooms and Blooms Blog Hop

If you arrived here from Tara's Blog, then you are on the right track! If you just stopped by and would like to start at the beginning, please go to Jenn's Blog.

We are so happy to have you join us today! You won't want to miss out on any of these whimsical mushroom projects!

One grand prize winner will win a the goodies pictured at your first stop (Jenn's Blog)! Please be a follower and leave a comment at all of the stops in the hop for the chance to win. There will also be other blog candy along the way! Make sure you return to Jenn's Blog and link up to be in the drawing for the goodies :)

For my project I wanted to create something I could use for the season as well as have the mushroom.  I have a Gnome Digital stamp set and kept seeing this great mushroom with a little snow on top.

I took the Gnome and gave him a little color with a star bling on the end of his hat.

I’m not great with flocking so I took some Star Dust Stickles and outlined the mushroom and the cloud for a little sparkle.  I used shimmer paper for the snow and cloud.  The blue background is from Basic Grey and the card based is Cherry card stock from A Muse Studio.

Here are the Copic markers I used

Now make sure to head over to An'Jenic's Blog Next.

If you get distracted along the way, here's a complete line up.

Getting Ready for Christmas - Crafting By Designs

Grab our Badge

Hello Everyone, I'm here today with the Getting Ready for Christmas card challenge.  We hope that when you play along with this challenge throughout the year, when the season arrives, you will have created enough Christmas cards for everyone on your list.

Today I took a stab at using my Copics and a Bugaboo stamp to create a very simple and easy card.

I started with coloring the tree and then trying to cut it out.

As you can tell, I'm really rusty on blending the darker and lighter tones.  Hopefully that will come with a lot more practice.

I used a sage color card stock for my base and Basic Grey Eskimo Paper for the mat.

I have to admit that this is not what I had envisioned when I started.  I printed the tree stamp to large so I had to turn my card base.  Then i didn't have room for a sentiment on the front.  So I went with a real basic stamp on the inside from the A Muse Studio Tis the Season stamp set.

As you can tell I'm hooked on trees right now.  So the challenge to go along with this card is

use a Tree on your card.

Make sure to stop off at Crafting By Designs to submit your creation.  I can't wait to see what you make.

Cool Yule Winner

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are having fun and enjoying the Christmas Season speeding Joy, Peace and Goodwill.  I love this time of year when people actually try a little harder to be nice to one another.

The Smith house is still on the fence about doing the annual baking.  At first we decided that the time would be better served to purchase boxes of chocolates and spend more time with family.  Then hubby looked at me the other day and said "Well, you have to at least make a few runs of banana bread and some of those sugar cookies."

With the most sarcastic tone I have I replied, "Well if I'm doing that much I might as well do the whole list of goodies and not waist the money on boxes of chocolate."   Of course he would want me to bake the most time consuming items.  Then my son chimes in via text message and tells me it's not Christmas if I don't make him a pumpkin roll.  Giving him a store bought on in November "JUST AIN'T RIGHT".

So anyway, we'll see what happens.  If I post pictures of the kitchen in full on backing mode you will know that I decided that crafting took a back seat to backing.

I promised to draw a random winner for a Cool Yule stamp set.  There were seven people to comment during the Crafting by Designs Blog Hop.

And the Winner is:

True Random Number Generator

#1 is :
Love the card!
Those stamped trees are beautiful!
Hugs,
Julia

I want to thank everyone that stopped by during the hop and don't forget to stop by  Crafting by Designs and participate in all the different challenges.  We would love to see you there.

If you are following the blog hop you should have arrived from

Our blog hop is showcasing each designers favorite season.  My favorite season is winter and the arrival of Christmas.  I enjoy creating cards and sending them out to family and friends.  It's the one time of year that I really touch base with them.  So for this hop I'm showing this year's cards that will be going out in the mail very soon.

I started with this great stamp set "Cool Yule" from A Muse Studio.

I stamped each tree out in 3 different colors of ink and fussy cut them out.  I topped each tree with a gold sequin piece with a star rhinestone in the middle of it.

I then stamped the sentiment up in the corner and added some Queen and Company twine to the bottom.

Here's what I did with the inside.  I debated adding another sequin and star to the top, but I wanted them to fold flat.

Thanks again for hopping along today.  Please leave a comment for you change to win a new "Cool Yule" stamp set.

If you missed any stops along the way, here is the complete blog line up.

Would You Ever Guess - Gift Boxes

Hello Everyone,  Happy Wednesday to you.  Today at My Cricut Craft Room the Design Team is working on projects using cartridges in ways you wouldn't normally think of to create gift boxes.  I decided to use Cindy Loo, Art Philosophy and Teresa Collins December 25th cartridges to create some quick gifts for neighbors and co-workers.

I started with a cut from the Cindy Loo Cartridge.  I believe it's suppose to be a flower pot, but it looks like a great box to me.  Using my gypsy I can fit two on a 12 X 12 cutting mat.

I put the boxers together together and flocked the turned down edges.  I didn't want the sides to be down completely flat so I tucked them down with 3D foam tape.  I chose to fill the boxes with peppermint and kisses.  I used some Jaded Blossom stamps and a 7/8" circle punch to add a little bit to them.

I used the Art Philosophy and December 25th cartridges to create a sign to put in the middle of the boxes.  I really like this particular label cut and tend to use it quite often.  I attached two signs to a straw, on the back it says "The Smith's"

Here it is all put together.

I hope this gives you an idea for a quick and easy gift.  They also make great table decorations for the lunch tables at work.  For more great gift box ideas stop by  My Cricut Craft Room and see what the other Design Team members are doing.

CCR Exclusive Cuts - Holiday Cards

Hello Everyone,  today at My Cricut Craft Room the Design Team creates project with the Imagine or using Cricut Craft Room Exclusive cuts.  I decided to use the exclusive Holiday Card 13.  I love Christmas Bells.  When I saw the cut on line, I knew I just had to purchase it.

Here's a picture of my cut screen.  I want you to see that I added extra leaves on the bottom and cut them out in a different color.  I used A Muse Studio Shimmer Gold to cut the base of the card.  I cut a pieces of Shimmer Sugar for the background.

After I cut the leaves out in evergreen and glued them on, I used Xmas Red Stickles to color in where the berries would be.

When looking up close like this, I can see where I should have taken some time and colored the edges of the leaves with green ink to the white didn't stand out so much.

On the inside of the card, I stamped and used gold embossing powder for the sentiment.

This was a quick and easy card to create and I was able to cut, glue and emboss a nice stack of them for a card swap rather quickly.  I hope you are able to stop by Cricut Craft Room and enjoy some of the great card cuts that are available.

Scrapbook Friday - Recipe Page Swap

Hello Everyone,

Today at My Cricut Craft Room we are showcasing scrapbook recipe pages.  It was supposed to be for Thanksgiving, but I jumped Thanksgiving and made a page for a Christmas Cookie Swap.

Hopefully everyone will forgive me and use Peanut Butter Cookies anytime of year.

I started with a 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of Poppy colored card stock.  with it, I was able to cut a 6 X 6 square for the base, a card pocket 3 3/4" X 5 and a tag 3 X 4 3/4.

For the pocket, I took the 3 3/4" X 5 and scored 3 sides 1/4" and cut the corners at a 45 degree angle.
Cutting the corner creates a nice fold on the bottom of the pocket.

I cut the tag from the Art Philosophy cartridge, cut a piece of white card stock to leave an 1/8" all the way around, punch a hole at the top and added some ribbon.

I used the Baseball cartridge to cut out a bag of peanuts and some extra peanuts.  I cut all three layers of the bag and added one of the peanuts to the opening. There were only three peanuts in the cut, so I cut them twice.  I needed more peanuts.

So here's the final pocket page.

I had a lot of fun with it, other than it's not Thanksgiving.  For more great Thanksgiving Recipe page ideas, check out  My Cricut Craft Room.
