I'm so excited!!! This is the first time I've been involved in a blog hop. I want to thank Rebecca at Crafting Misfit for letting me be apart of her hop.
You should have arrived here from
Lolis. If you are just passing by and want to start at the beginning go to
Rebecca - Crafting Misfit. At the beginning you will find complete blog rules and of course **Blog Candy**. You can also link up your own creation there. After me you will go to
Meaghen. If you get lost, there is a complete list at the bottom.
The idea of this blog hop was for each of us to expand our knowledge and try something new! It could be a new material, a new technique or a new project that we just been afraid to tackle (like me). Thanks in advance for playing along.
So, my project comes with a story. My son is a very busy teenager ( I know, they all are). Mike has been an FFA officer for 3 years, been on the football team, rugby team and held down a job. Then there's extra jobs working on cars and mowing lawns. After 4 years of high school, he finally knows what a community calendar is and that he needs to uses it. That way the parentals have some idea as to when he might be coming home or if he needs one of them to attend something. The current calender is a dry erase sheet of clear plastic held to the fridge with magnets and it always has stuff under it, like insurance cards or tickets. The last couple of months, the calendar has been covered in blue for his meetings, black for rugby games, green for competitions, purple for work, yellow for misc appointments and so on. There's no room left for me. Like I'm that busy anyway.
Mike heads out into the big bad college world this June. Mom's a serious wreck and is scared to death that he won't make project deadlines, will miss practice or heaven forbid an important party. So I kept thinking that he needed to take something with him that would have a touch of home on it. He's what I started with
A 12X12 picture frame with a glass front, a piece of 12X12 sheet metal, dove gray vinyl and magnets. The magnets have to be heavy duty ones so that they will hold through the glass.
So here's the end result. I put the vinyl on the back side of the glass so that when he writes on the front he doesn't write on the vinyl. At first I was really upset that I put the calendar where I did. I wanted it in the bottom left corner so that he had room for other notes. When he came home he was really excited and laughed. He is left-handed and having it in the right-hand corner, he won't be erasing things on the days when he's adding additional information on the sides. He picked the Lego paper and we cut up Lego stickers to stick to the top of the magnets.
This was an experience using the vinyl and working in flip mode. Now that you've read my ramblings, lets reward you with some
BLOG CANDY. Become a follower and leave me a message before hopping on. I will use chose two participants at random and post the winners on Friday. Each winner will receive 5 of the magnet sets shown below.
Thanks for stopping by. The blog hop list is as follows:
