Week 38 Challenge Saturday - Use Your Scraps!

#38
Challenge: Use your Scraps
September 24 - 30th, 2013

Hi everyone, Doris here today with a bright cheery card made from my scraps drawer. Do you hoard your favorite papers sometimes, not wanting to use them because they're so pretty? And when you do use them, do you save your scraps? I've got 4 big scraps drawers and had fun sifting thru them to find some patterned paper to match this bright paper from the
Bazzill Basics Electric Pack.
The bright and cheery neon colors were used for the card base and little flower next to the sentiment, and pop right off the page! The colors even matched the scrap of patterned paper pretty well, and the VersaMagic chalk ink I used with the Sentiment Sampler Paper Smooch stamps did too!
The Bazzill Electric paper and Paper Smooches stamp set are available in the Cuttin' and Stampin' store HERE.
Please make sure your creation post has a link back to Cuttin' and Stampin'.

Challenge:   Use your Scraps
September 24 - 30th, 2013

Hi guys... what a difference a week makes. This time last week my husband was installing a new ceiling fan in my stuffy scrapbook room and yesterday morning I woke up freezing and had to add a blanket to the bed. I love fall. It is my favorite season of the year. Just hoping it hangs around long enough to enjoy having our windows open and some fresh air blowing through the house.

This week my challenge from Cuttin' and Stampin" was to use the Paper Smooches Artisan Blocks stamp set, five colors of the Bazzill Electric Sheets, and any paper scraps that I had in my scrapbook room. I had a blank slate, but I really had no clue on where to begin. Without the papers having a design or image to get me started, it was a true challenge for creativity. Looking at the neon colors of the papers I finally decided to make something fun that maybe someone like my Grands might enjoy and the process began.

I started out with a blue A2 card base, which is cut 5.50" x 8.50" and scored at 4.25". From my scraps I cut a black base layer at 4" x 5.25" and a white top layer at 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". Using the Artisan Blocks stamp set, I stamped four images using my favorite black ink, VersaFine Onyx Black, onto four pieces of the Bazzill paper. I then used a 1 1/4" punch to cut the image, and using more of my black scraps, I used a 1 1/2" punch to matte each paper. To assemble the card I used a cute stamp I had in my stash and stamped the image on the bottom of the white top layer, adherred the four matted squares to the top of my card, tied a knot using a scrap of 12" black & white gingham ribbon. I also used a 1" circle punch to cut the smiley face and adherred it to one of the squares. Both my smiley face and four matted squares were raised using mounting tape to add dimension. I then adherred my white top layer to the bottom black layer and then these two layers were adherred to the base card. Just a fun, cute card to make anyone smile!

For my second card I started with my favorite top folding card, which measures 4.25" x 11", scored at 5.50". Using a scrap white card base I ran it through my Big Shot using a spider web embossing folder. From there continuing to use the Bazzill papers and scraps, I die cut a variety of three black bats, an inked pumpkin, and a small oval for my verse. I then stamped the Artisan Blocks stamps on three of the neon papers and then pieced them together to form my banners. I stamped a cute spider on my pumpkin and then again, I used mounting tape under each image on the card for added dimension. I thought it turned out soooo cute!

Well, my friends that is it for today. I hope you have enjoyed my two cards. I must say the second one came to me much easier than the first one did.

If you are interested, during this weeks challenge only, you may buy both the stamp set and the papers I used at a discounted price. It also includes a second stamp set and FREE freight. You may go here to see this weeks special.

Challenge #38 Tuesday - It's okay to use those scraps...

Challenge:   Use your Scraps
September 24 - 30th, 2013

Hi everyone, Lynda from Positive Force here to share with you my project for the Use your Scraps challenge.  I wanted to first share this cute card that I made where I created this fun background using cardtock pieces to create this sunburst effect.  This is a great way to use cardstock only on a card.  I first stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Sampler set onto the yellow cardstock.  I then cut out the piece in a circle.  I then took various pieces of neon cardstock and edged them with pinking decorative scissors.  I then began adding the pieces to the card base.  Once I was happy with how it looked I adhered down the strips.  I then went back and added the dots and doodles to the edge to make the card pop...

and from the scraps left from that card I made this card...I stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock and then layered the strips onto pattern paper and cardstock scraps.  I then covered the front of the card base with the leftover pieces of the neon paper.

You can find these wonderful products available in a weekly bundle package at an amazing deal right here.

Week 38- Use Your Scraps!

#38
Challenge:   Use your Scraps
September 24 - 30th, 2013
Hello Crafty Friends!   Teresa Kaufhold here from CreateEnjoyShare. This week we are being asked to "Use Our Scraps".  Any of us that do paper crafting always have little bits of paper left over. Do you save them or recycle them or just toss them in the trash? I am a "saver" - especially if it is a "special" paper- a pretty pattern, glitter cardstock,  or a neat texture.  But I really am good at saving any usable size left over pieces of paper and I turn to my scraps first when I am creating, before cutting into a brand new piece of paper!
Today I made a birthday card for a sweet friend that lives in Alaska. (Hi Lori!!)
Let's take a look at it and then we'll talk about it!

I used an adorable Paper Smooches Stamp from the set called
"Chubby Chums" set.  I recently purchased some water color pencils and stamped the chick on water color paper and then used the pencils to color her in- then used a water color paint brush dipped in water to blend. I then "fussy cut" around the chick. To create the "nest" she is sitting in, I drew a nest with the water color pencils and then again used the paint brush to help blend the color. I did a light blue watercolor back ground as well for the chickie and the nest to rest on!
I used foam squares to give the card dimension.

I used another Paper Smooches Stamp for the little flag the chick is holding - from the same stamp set, "Chubby Chums".  I just hand cut a little banner shape.

For the inside sentiment I stamped the "happy birthday" from a super cute set called Sentiment Sampler.
You can get your very own Paper Smooches stamps from The Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenge Blog. Tammy has some amazing weekly specials going on right HERE!
I KNOW you have some scraps laying around your craft area!  Please join us in this challenge and enter your own project!

Weekly Challenge #37 Sunday

#37
Challenge:   Use 3 punches
September 17 - 23rd, 2013

Teresa R. here from Fresh and Renewed! I am soooo excited to share with you this card today. This was my very ever first card I have colored with alcohol markers. I had a blast coloring this image. My friend Kim helped me with my first experience and gave hints and tips along the way. Well she got me hooked!! I cannot wait to begin sharing with you my creations colored with my brand new alcohol markers.

So here is my card! The inside of my card has a little slit for a gift card.

I also created a second card...I have been watching about a million YouTube videos lately and I saw this technique called the bandana technique. So I tested it out. Each card followed the challenge and used 3 punches.

Week 37 Challenge for Saturday - Use 3 Punches

#37
Challenge: Use 3 punches
September 17 - 23rd, 2013
Hi everyone, Doris here today with my project for this week's challenge. I don't know why, but I don't use my punches as often as I should. I've got so many Martha Stewart and EK Success punches, and they give a quick little punch to a project. But this challenge was the perfect reason to open that drawer and get re-acquanted with some of my favorites, and here's what I came up with:

I used some Denim Bazzill paper mixed with some kraft paper scraps for the flower and an oval punch, and the Salutation stamp set from
Paper Smooches.  The other two punches are from Martha Stewart.
You can find the Bazzill paper and stamps on the
Weekly Deal page of Cuttin and Stampin found HERE.

So break out those punches and add your project using 3 of them to this week's challenge. Please make sure your creation post has a

Challenge:   Use 3 punches
September 17 - 23rd, 2013

At Cuttin" and Stampin" this week we are having a "Three Punch Challenge." I love using punches, I own many of them, and never thought twice about how many I could use on a single page or card until this challenge. I was given two shades of Bazzill Basic blue papers to use along with three punches of my choice. It took me the longest time to come up with a card using these two requirements as the basics of my card. I started off with a top fold dark blue card, measuring 11" x 4.25", scored at 5.50".  I cut my next layer out of the light blue at 4" x 5.25". I inked the Paper Smooches Borderlicious tiny polks dots border with VersaMark, sprinkled on a white embossing powder, and then heat set the layers. I then used a 2.50" circle punch on a scrap piece of inked beige patterned paper, and a snowflake punch using a scrap of the dark blue paper. Using my hand punch I punched a small hole in the center of the snowflake and inserted a large snowflake brad I had in my stash and attached it to the light blue layer.

I cut a 18" piece of ribbon and tied a bow on the bottom of the top layer.
I adhered my top layer to my card base. I stamped my verse on another scrap piece of the light blue cardstock. Using my third required punch I punched this out along with a second punch on the dark blue cardstock and matted the verse.

This is the Paper Smooches "Borderlicious" stamp set I used and the
required two blue Bazzill papers.

These are the three punches I used for my card

I am done! I must say, this was a real challenge for this gal! I may have used three punches on other projects, but I will remember this one!

Happy Scrappin!

Weekly Challenge #37 - Wednesday

#37
Challenge:   Use 3 punches
September 17 - 23rd, 2013

On this, my fourth or fifth attempt, I decided that I liked the Martha Stewart zig-zag border punch for a Halloween project.  After all, this Doodlebug "Halloween Parade" line includes chevron patterns, so a zig-zag border would work!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Salutations (Paper Smooches)
Paper:  Criss-Cross Solid Cardstock (Bazzill Basics), Halloween Parade (Doodlebug)
Paint/Ink: Memento dye ink in Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), chalk ink in Charcoal (ClearSnap)

Accessories: Glitter stickers & Lilac baker's twine (Doodlebug), Corner rounder, tag, and small circle punches (EK Success), Zig-Zag border punch (Martha Stewart)

So after initially struggling with the three punches, I actually ended up using four:  The zig-zag border, the tag, the small circle (hole in tag) and a corner rounder.

My particular tag punch did not have a larger nesting tag punch to accompany it, so I just stuck my purple tag on a piece of the multi-colored chevron Doodlebug paper and trimmed the outer piece to size.   Then I punched the hole through both layers and threaded the Baker's twine through it.

We hope you'll join us and make a project using three punches!  It could be a scrapbook page, card, etc.  You can link your project herePlease make sure your creation post has a link back to Cuttin' and Stampin'.
