Weekly Challenge 14-20: Memorial Day

Weekly Challenge
Orange Team 14-20
Memorial Day

This week the Design Team used the
Paper Smooches Circle of Honor stamp set and
Doodlebug Patriotic Parade papers in their projects. These
are both available in the Cuttin and Stampin Scrappy Supply Store.

Our new challenge is to make a project
celebrating Memorial Day. There are so many
groups that collect cards for our soldiers and veterans, please
consider making a card for a hero to thank them for their service.
Here are some sneak peeks of the Design Team projects.
Please stop by their blogs for all the details on what they made and come
back here to enter your Memorial Day projects.

This week we say goodbye to several
of the Cuttin' and Stampin' Design Team members,
Melissa, Courtney, and Michelle.
We hope you'll join us in wishing them well and for sharing
their talents with us!

Mixed Media Day: Green Team 14-19

May 13-May 19
Weekly Challenge - Graduation

This week we are creating for Graduations over at Cuttin' and Stampin'
We are using  Doodlebug's The Graduate collection and Paper Smooches Seeing Stars stamp set both of which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store
Michele from Stuff By Belle here today and I am sharing a card to have on hand for the next graduation celebration I have the honor of attending..

I cut banners from the paper and used the owl sticker on my finished banner.  The black stars are stamped in archival ink using the PS stamps.  The gems anchoring the banner are also doodlebug.

I used the UmWow Studio star confetti mask with gold Viva crackle paint, star confetti chip pieces with Viva inka gold in silver, and a speech bubble with Viva inka gold in gold.  I used some of my jewelry making supplies to emboss the word dream in the speech bubble.

On the inside I used a sentiment and some stars from the PS stamps too.

You still have a couple of days to get your Graduation project linked up on our challenge blog.
I can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time...get inky often!

Family Friday - Graduation

 Family Friday
Graduation Day

Wow, this is getting to be a habit.  I've posted three time this week.  I think that's some kind of record for me.  So I mentioned on Tuesday that I've received 5 graduation announcements so far this year.    So it's been a little busy in my craft room trying to get out a few cards and have a few more on hand, just in case.

I am sharing 2 of my cards today.  I know this is a Family post, but what's more important in a teenager's life than graduating high school?

So this is what I was able to design using Doodlebugs The Graduate paper line and the Paper Smooches Seeing Stars stamp set.

First off I have to admit that I used a lot more than just the two items listed above.  I think I brought everything but the kitchen sink out for this years cards.  The first one is for Alex.  Brad really wanted me to work in Pink and Zebra Stripes for her.  Well, I managed the Pink.  I started with a Tidly Inks stamps set with the cutest little girl and I gave her a pink dress.

Her hat is a Doodlebug Doodle Pop.  I stamped the stars across the bottom and was going to cover them with some Wink of Stella Glitter pen, but decided to use some of my Doodlebug Sprinkle Stars across it.

Inside I used an old CTHM stamp set.  It's one of the first one's I purchased and find myself using it every year.

The second card is one of my Extra's for the year.  It's pretty general and can be used for high school or college.

The cap and 2014 are glitter elements that come from a cupcake topper package that I picked up at Michaels.

I used more of the Doodlebug Sprinkle Stars to accent the corners of the card.

Here's the inside.  The stars are from the Doodlebug The Graduate sticker sheet.  I didn't want anything real think on the inside to keep the card from closing flat.

Pocket Thursday - Graduation

 Pocket Page Thursday

Graduation Day

Hello Everyone.   Not so long ago I was at a crop with a friend and we started talking about her son graduating from high school this year.  I just so happen to be trying to think of what to do for this pocket post and paper and decided that I was going to create this layout and give it to her.  So I started asking about Senior pictures of her son.   She was at a complete loss as to what I was asking for.  She had no idea that many schools do a special session of pictures for senior.

So I asked for just some pictures of her son that I could use and she handed me a couple of his senior prom pictures.

So this is what I was able to design using Doodlebugs The Graduate paper line and the Paper Smooches Seeing Stars stamp set.

So I have this idea that I could create some pockets to hold a few of the things that Seniors collect.  The first being the extra name cards that kids swap after all the invitations are sent out.  I used the tabs from the Frills sticker sheet to label the pockets.

The pockets are the perfect size for a mini-deploma that is offered in many of the graduation kits from Jostens.

In the top corner I cut out some of the books in the paper and used it as corner holders for the picture.  In the bottom corner, I stamped some stars, backed them with black paper and only adhered the two corners.  So a picture can be slipped in and out.

Down the center of the other page, I put boxes that will allow for Journling or wallet size pictures of friends.  The flag and books were off the sticker sheet.  I added 2014 in tiny gold foil numbers.

The glittery cap and GRAD are leftover cupcake toppers from years ago.

Here's a full view of the second layout.  The two fill in cards are from the Simply Put Album Inserts and then I created two larger photo mats.

Step-By-Step Wednesday - Green Team #14-19

 Weekly Challenge 14-19
Graduation Day

This week the wonderful design team is using Doodlebugs The Graduate paper line and the Paper Smooches Seeing Stars stamp set.

It's that time of year again.......graduation time!  I personally received only one announcement (so far) for my 2nd cousin-in-law........let's just say he's related! :)

Since we will be sending money for his college fund, I thought I'd show the steps to make a money card.  I'll be perfectly honest, I found this information on Pinterest.  Although it's a little different, the main idea was there!

Let's get started!

The white card base should measure 8 1/2" x 6 1/2".  Turn your paper longways and then score it at 6 1/2" and 3 1/4".

Fold on the score lines and use a bone folder to make the creases very crisp.

Next will come the assembly!  My favorite part!  Once the white base is folded, you'll need to create the money pocket.  Be sure to secure it as close to the edge as possible to allow room for the money or check to slide in.  I've used staples, but feel free to use whatever you'd like......brads or glue work well too.  Once it's secured, you will be gluing it to a backing piece to cover up the staples or brads.  The backing piece measures 3 3/8" x 6 5/8".  I then added a piece of patterned paper to the money flap and used a circle punch (any size, doesn't really matter) to create the half circle to make getting he money out easier.

I used my Stampin' Up owl punch to create this cute little guy!  I added a bit of white pen to his eyes for dimension.  To create the diploma, I took a piece of regular copy-type paper (thin), rolled it, then tied it with some twine.  I attached it with a glue dot to be sure it stayed secured!

I added a square of black with a gold brad as his hat.  I played around with sizes, and then ended up cutting it down a little bit more with scissors.

I did utilize a few of my punches on this one......I love it when I can do that!  A chevron border punch on the bottom, a rolodex card edge punch on the front.  I hope he likes the card as much as what's in it!!

This can obviously be adapted to ANY occasion just by changing the details!!

Hello Everyone.  I don't know about you, but I have received 5 graduation announcements this year.  It just amazes me how fast the kids are growing up and moving on with their lives.  3 of the announcements were for kids finishing High School and 2 are for College.  That was a real mind blower.

So this week the wonderful design team is using Doodlebugs The Graduate paper line and the Paper Smooches Seeing Stars stamp set.
