Weekly Challenge #39 - Saturday

#39
Challenge:   Halloween
October 1 - 7th, 2013
Today is World Card Making Day!  I'll be celebrating by making cards today.  Will you?  Of course, if you choose to join our challenge, it's not necessary to make a card.  A cute Halloween-themed scrapbook page or 3-D item will work just fine.
My project features the Arsenic and Lace patterned papers from Bazzill Basics and the Spookalicious dies and stamps from Paper Smooches.  All of these are available at the Cuttin' and Stampin' Shop at a deep discount as the Weekly Deal!

This card has fancy cutting all over it.  First, the focal images are both paper-pieced.  You'll notice some additional cutting on the ghost's "hand", where I created a slit for the pumpkin so it looks like she's carrying it.  Also fancy cut are the shape that says "eek" which was cut from the Bazzill Basics patterned paper, the bat which was a Paper Smooches die, and the spider web which was cut on the Silhouette.

We hope you'll join us and make a Halloween project -- cute or spooky is up to you!  It could be a scrapbook page, card, etc.  You can link your project here.
Please make sure your creation post has a link back to Cuttin' and Stampin'.
Thanks for playing along!  We will be announcing the winners on October 11 2013.

Challenge:   Halloween
October 1 - 7th, 2013

Hello there....Lynda here from Positive Force.  Our theme this week is to create a Halloween project.  I decided to create two things.  Both feature the Spookalicious stamp set and matching dies from Paper Smooches and the wonderful pattern papers from Bazzill's Arsenic and Lace line.

For my card I first cut out the shapes for the bat and the vampire.  I then stamped onto the paper.  I then colored in the vampire using my Copic markers.  I then stamped the sentiment onto a scrap piece of cardstock.  I then began using scraps of the pattern paper to create my card design.  I finished off the card with some corner doodles using a white gel pen.  I think he's fangtastic!!

I then decided to make a tag using the owl from the same stamp set.  I cut out the shape using the matching die and then stamped the image on to the cardstock.  I then colored it in with my Copic markers.  I then added the google eyes.  The tiny top hat was cut from the pattern paper design and glued to the top of the owl.  The front of the tag was covered with a piece of the pattern paper and a coordinating piece of cardstock that had been embossed.  Lastly the sentiment and ribbon trim were added to the tag.

(Oh...did you notice the sentiment says "hootiful" and not "bootiful"?  I only inked the top of the letters so it matched my "owl" theme tag...fun right???)

There is still time to get in on the Halloween theme challenge.  You have until October 7th to get your project linked up!!

Weekly Challenge #39-Thursday

#39
Challenge:   Halloween
October 1 - 7th, 2013

Teresa R. here from Fresh and Renewed. I have a cute, adorable project for you today using the absolute ghoulish "Halloweenies" stamp set and matching dies by Paper Smooches. I recently received this wonderful surprise gift from a friend...totally unexpected and out of the blue....a Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine! I did not have anything prior with which to cut dies with and was so excited to get and play with it. Included were a bunch of extras; embossing folders galore, and a few dies.

I used one of the dies and some various colors of Orange Bazzill cardstock and cut these petal fold boxes. I glued them together and because the glue I was using just was not adhering them well I cut out strips of the Arsenic and Lace paper to go around the boxes. This also served as my station for my cute little decorations.

Next, I colored the stamped images with my brand new Spectrum-Noir alcohol markers...(stay tuned for a review and some more coloring with them)! And because this is the first time I have used the dies I stamped and colored first and then cut...later found out it should be the opposite. I found a wonderful little tip though while watching a YouTube Video...use post-it notes to hold your die and paper in place! Wow, I tried it and it worked! I then, pop dotted the image and put it on the tag or the strip.

So, here are my cute little boxes...I am going to use them as treat boxes for my 7 grandchildren. I have 3 more to make before the end of the month.

Here are the supplies I used for this project:

Bazzill Orange Cardstock: Various shades I had in my stash
Bazzill Arsenic and Lace Paper
Paper Smooches Halloweenies Stamp Set and Matching Dies
Ranger Pop Dots: Note these are some mega pop dots...if you need
to make your image really stand out these are the ones to use.
Spellbinders Grand Templates: Square Petal Top Box
Some orange ribbon from my stash: it said Trick or Treat!
Spectrum-Noir Alcohol Markers

Week 39 Challenge- Halloween

#39
Challenge:   Halloween
October 1 - 7th, 2013

Hello Crafters!
Teresa K from  CreateEnjoyShare here with my Design Team post where the "challenge" for this week is Halloween!
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the adorable stamp set from Paper Smooches called Halloweenies.  I love the images as well as the sentiments on this cute set!   I was also lucky enough to get to use the Paper Smooches "Wise Dies" set also called "Halloweenies" that tie right in with the stamp set!
As part of the Design Team, I was also given some wonderful Bazzil Paper from the Arsenic and Lace collection!  Tammy has some wonderful specials if you head over to the Shop at the Cuttin' and Stampin' Blog.

Let's take a look at my first project for today.

How cute is that little witch?  I stamped her with black ink and used the perfect and easy to use "wise die" that fit the witch just perfectly!  I then colored her in with simple colored pencils.
The Card Shape itself is called a "fake gate card" and I learned how to make it from Joy at Obsessed with Scrapbooking. She has all kinds of wonderful tips and hints on her blog.
I used that adorable Bazzill paper for the base and the trim of the card.
Here is how the card opens and you can see the sentiments I used from this stamp set.
Here is the card completely opened up.
These three sentiments were all separate and I stacked them on the acrylic stamping block and stamped them all at once.
Aren't the bats cute?

I wanted to decorate the inside as you unfold the card so I added another cute pumpkin from the stamp set!
Don't you just love the patterned paper from Bazzill? I chose the color pencils I used to tie in with the pattern paper.
Not only did I pop the pattern paper up with foam squares, I also mounted the witch on an
Action Wobble so she wiggles!
You can see a bit of the blur in this photo...that is the great action of the Wobble working!
One final look at my card!
I was so happy with the paper I received I decided to throw together another fast and very simple Halloween card.
I simply layered some of the wonderful Bazzill paper and the sentiment card on the card!
Used foam squares to pop up the layer with the saying.
Couldn't be easier!
I am so happy you stopped by to visit and I hope you are inspired to make some Halloween projects. We would love you to link up your project at our Challenge Blog!
